Violet Glass is Here to Stay at The Peacock Apothecary

We’re so excited to announce that we have officially switched all of our packaging to violet glass. These beautiful black glass containers help us preserve our products without the addition of harsh chemicals. How does it work? Violet glass blocks the complete spectrum of visible light with the exception of the violet part. At the same time it allows a certain part to be permeable for radiation in the spectral range of UV-A, and infra red light. This unique combination offers optimal protection against the ageing processes that are released by visible light, thus lengthening durability and potency of products. These special containers help us extend the life of our products without compromising our mission to create natural, high-quality, clean skincare products.

So when you scoop the last bit of scrub out of the jar, or pump the last bit of serum, think twice before recycling these beauties. Hang onto the containers and reuse them for anything that might need a little extra boost of protection.

Turning 30.

All I wanted for my 30th birthday was to be in the desert, eating dessert, with the people in my life that mattered most. So we planned a Labor Day weekend of epic proportions in my home away from home, Palm Springs! We took over The Amado an AMAZING place we found on Air BnB and pretended to live on a commune for a few nights. It was divine. Between the hours of pool floating, neon sunglass crafting, the chocolate cake with a cheesecake baked inside of it (!!!) and going through 17 packages of bacon, it was truly a wonderful way to start my new year…

photo2Of course, to mark the occasion, we had ourselves a photo shoot. I definitely couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. OR BETTER FRIENDS. xo Cait

Well, August sure did fly by…

We didn’t post much in August… and by much, I mean we didn’t post anything! I guess we were out and about enjoying Summer too much? I know I was!

This past month, I turned 30, so I spent the month doing all the things that make me happy, which pretty much boils down to sitting in the sunshine as much as possible… and eating lots of sweets. Now that it’s September though, I’m ready to get back to business. See ya next year Summer! xo Cait

Throwing a baby shower…

14678108651_6e0bebdb86_kIS SO MUCH FUN! I may have gone a little overboard planning a party for the arrival of my best friend’s baby gurl this past weekend. But it was worth it. Seeing as it was my first crack at throwing a baby shower, I didn’t really know when to say stop. But I couldn’t help myself. I was like a kid in a candy shop! After throwing my fair share of wedding related parties, it was like going into uncharted waters. I literally went down a Pinterest blackhole and ended up in Etsy heaven.14494570010_78b6896c5e_kThe theme was easy. This little girl already has an insatiable craving for cakes, cookies and ice cream, so an ice cream sociale seemed appropriate. Plus who doesn’t love a party that ends in cake and ice cream, right?14701113903_8d6d20bd9c_kPlus, an ice cream theme lended itself nicely to a pickle bar too. And again, foolproof. Who doesn’t love a pickle bar?!14681219625_aafff64d98_k14494540748_9ed542c57a_kWe did a few classic games but the real hit was the onesie decorating station! All you need is some scrap fabric, scissors, washable fabric glue and a needle and thread and BAM, you got yourself an instant craft circle.14677992101_54e2457c2f_kSeeing as all I can think about are all the ways I will spoil the little chickadee once she is born (because that’s what aunts do after all), I thought filling her mommy with 7 layers of cake and an ice cream sundae bar was the best way to start!14494515079_2c0d8d8957_k14494510948_b44f69b7d3_kAnd my favorite part about having cake and ice cream for dessert on a Saturday? The Sunday morning breakfast cake I get to have! xo Cait14678804634_b45ea4ee12_k
